A Place Like this Lyrics

I've got somebody waiting at home
Someone who gives me love like I've never known
So won't you tell me what am I doing?
Chasing shadows in some dark hotel roomI won't lie and say I'm proud of myself
But lately I've been acting like I'm somebody else
I know that I should walk out of that door
Still I hate to leave without what I've came here forAnd I ask myself
(I ask myself)
What's a nice girl
(What's a nice girl like you)
Doing in a place like this
(Doing)
Stealing a kiss
(Stealing a kiss)And I ask myself
What's a nice girl like you
(You)
Doing in a place like this?
When I know that I

Never should have been here
(I never should have been here)Is it the passion? Or the tender?
What does a stranger have
Ooh, that I hunger for?
Oh, if I dig deeper
(Deeper)
Will I find it?
(Find it)The strength to stand up and leave this behind
Never thought that this could happen to me
I'm doing things I never thought that I would believe, yeah, yeah
The time, the place, this I know my heart
Another thing I know is that this is moreAnd I ask myself
(Myself)
What's a nice girl
(What's a nice girl like you)
Like you
Doing in a place like this?
(Doing)Stealing a kiss
(Stealing a kiss)
And I ask myself
(I ask myself, yeah)What's a nice girl like you
(Yeah)
Doing in a place like this
When I know that I
Never should have been here
(Know that I've been here)Never thought this would happen to me
I'm doing things I never thought that I would believe, yeah, yeah
(I would believe)
The time, the place, this I know my heart
Another thing I know is that this is moreAnd I ask myself
(Oh, I ask myself)
What's a nice girl
(What's a nice girl)
Like you doing in a place like this
(Doing in a place like this)Stealing a kiss and I ask myself
What's a nice girl like you
(Oh, I ask myself)
Doing in a place like this
(Yeah, yeah)
When I know that I
Never should have been here
(Oh, oh, my, oh, whoa)And I ask myself
Doing in a place like this
And I ask myself
Doing in a place like this
(Doing)
When I know that I
Never should have been here
(When I know that I never)And I ask myself
(I ask, I ask myself)
What's a nice girl like you
Doing in a place like this?
(What am I doing here?, What am I doing here?)Stealing a kiss and I ask myself
(I ask myself)
What's a nice girl like you
Doing in a place like this
When I know that I
Never should have been hereAnd I ask myself
What's a nice girl like you
Doing in a place like this
(Doing in a place like this)
Stealing a kiss
(Doing in a place like this)
And I ask myself
(I ask myself)

A life-long renegade, singer/songwriter David Allan Coe is one of the most colorful and unpredictable characters in country music history. One of the pioneering artists of the outlaw country movement of the '70s, he hasn't had many big hits — only three of his singles hit the Top Ten — but he has been among the biggest cult figures in country music throughout his career. Born in Akron, OH, Coe first got into trouble with the law at age nine. As a result, he was sent to reform school.
