After You're Gone Lyrics

I could not lie
Skin untouched growing thicker for every step unwalked
And I don't know if it's the cold intention-slide
Taking me downBut what if you'd sing me alive
I'm ready to give up the fight
'Cause I'm just a stone
Right after you're gone
Right after you're gone
Right after you're goneI could not lie
Even though dead skin like stone makes me ugly
It still pounds inside and it's red
And it's slipping through the grey cracks
And I know you knowBut what if you'd sing me alive
I'm ready to give up the fight
'Cause I'm just a stone
Right after you're gone
Right after you're gone
Right after you're goneBut what if you'd sing me alive

I'm ready to give up the fight
Cause I'm just a stone
Right after you're gone
Right after you're gone
Right after you're goneBut what if you'd sing me alive
I'm ready to give up the fight
'Cause I'm just a stone
Right after you're gone
Right after you're gone
Right after you're goneThe first thing that meets the eye
When I crossover into the light
I want it to be
Right after I'm gone
Right after I'm gone
Right after I'm gone

The Memphis-born Megan Reilly started writing songs and playing them on the guitar at sixteen. Influenced equally by Loretta Lynn and Thin Lizzy. At twenty-three, she moved to New York City in 1999 where Steve Shelley of Sonic Youth became an early fan and supporter and helped introduce Megan into the New York music scene. Soon, Megan had attracted a band of tremendous players -- Steve Goulding (The Mekons) on drums, Tony Maimone (Pere Ubu) on bass, and Eric Morrison (Home) on piano.
