All Day Long Lyrics

She had her car loaded all down
Pointed east as she headed on out
But I had no idea how long it'd takeThere ain't a tree, no there ain't a rock
Nothing on that horizon to block
The sad view of my baby driving awayYeah, there she was kicking up dust
And out here a man can see for miles, yeah, and time don't fly
Losing love is always tough
But here in west Texas it takes a while to say goodbyeIt's bad enough she's gone, gone, gone
But I had to watch her leave me, all day longI should have known that she wouldn't dig
The rattlesnakes and rusty oil rigs
Living here wasn't her idea of funI sat and whittled me a big ol' stick
Down to nothing but a little toothpick
Just waiting on her to get here leaving doneYeah, and there she was kicking up dust
And out here a man can see for miles, yeah, and time don't fly
Losing love is always tough
But here in west Texas it takes a while to say goodbyeIt's bad enough she's gone, gone, gone
But I had to watch her leave me, all day long, yeahYeah, there she was kicking up dust
And out here a man can see for miles, yeah, and time don't never fly

Yeah, losing love is always tough
But here in west Texas it takes a while to say goodbyeIt's bad enough she's gone, long gone
But I had to watch her leave me, all day long
All day long, all day long

Willmon was raised on a ranch near Afton, Texas. By his second year in college, he dropped out to join a bluegrass band. In 1995, he moved to Nashville to start a songwriting career, and by 1998 he had a song-publishing contract with Sea Gayle Music. One of his first cuts as a songwriter was "It Doesn't Mean I Don't Love You". This song was recorded by the short-lived duo McHayes (which comprised 1990s country singer Wade Hayes and fiddler Mark McClurg), and reached #41 on the country charts in 2003.
