Always Believed In You Lyrics

I was born in the southland, down there in Texas, U.S.A.
I was never supposed to know a moment
Of unhappiness in my life
Somehow it didn't work out that wayI was born back in the sixties
I was born and raised to win
We had beaten, beaten back the darkness
But somehow the darkness slipped back inIf I ever get to Heaven
Which I hope I'm gonna do
They'll say, "How did you know?"
I'll say, "I just knew, I always believed in you"I went looking for a lover
But I didn't know the rules
I made six wrong turns and nearly died
But the 7th time I made it throughI went looking for the answers
I wanted nothing but truth
I went driving towards a light at a hundred miles an hour
But I was running low on proofIf I ever get to Heaven
Which I hope I'm gonna do
And they'll say, "How did you know?"

I'll say, "I just knew, I always believed in you"Gonna walk right up to the bossman I'm gonna say
Couldn't believe the scene down there
It was kinda like livin' in a dream down there
There wasn't too much to believe in down there
Believe it or not, I always believed in youIf I ever get to Heaven
Which I hope I'm gonna do
And they'll say, "How did you know?"
I'll say, "I made it through 'cause I always believed in you"I couldn't believe the crazy scene down there
It was kinda like linin' in a dream down there
There wasn't too much to believe in down there
Believe it or not, I always believed in, in you
I always believed in you, I always believed in you
I always believed in you

The band formed in Austin,Texas around Charlie Sexton (vocals/ guitar), Doyle Bramhall II (vocals/guitar), Tommy Shannon (bass) and Chris Layton (drums). Previously Sexton had a mildly successful solo career that peaked in 1985 with the song "Beat's So Lonely" while Bramhall, the son of Lightning Hopkins drummer and Stevie Ray Vaughan collaborator Doyle Bramhall...
