Ambitious Lyrics

You work all night
And it's really frightening
'Cause you're so ambitiousIt's just a habit
That you have to grab it
You're avariciousI know you'll make it
But I just can't take it
You're so ambitiousNothing's ever going to make you stop
Not even when you've made it to the topYou're a workaholic
It's so hyperbolic
You're so ambitiousYou're so ambitious
You're so ambitious
For the roadYou're a finance wizard
A Stock Exchange lizard
'Cause you're so ambitiousAlways talking deals
Turning cogs and wheels
You're so ambitiousWhat has happened to the girl I knew?
When you're rich and famous you'll just say we're throughYou want a Rolls-Royce motor
And an eighty-foot boat, oh

You're so ambitiousYour satisfaction
Is a new transaction
'Cause you're so ambitiousYour excitation
Is negotiation
'Cause you're so ambitiousYou want a house that's Georgian
And ahead you're forgin'
You're so ambitiousNothing's ever going to make you stop
Not even when you've made it to the topYou're so ambitious
Am-ambitious
You've got a pinstriped suit
A polka-dot computer
You're so ambitiousYour calculator
It says "see you later"
Its voice sounds viciousI know you'll make it
But I just can't take it
You're so ambitiousNothing's ever going to make you stop
Not even when you've made it to the top

Robert Calvert is best known as the on-off frontman of influential rock group Hawkwind. Robert was born in 1945 in Pretoria, South Africa. His family moved to Kent in England in 1947. He grew up wanting to be a fighter pilot but ended up a writer, an enthusiastic participant in the 1960s London psychedelia subculture.
After meeting Hawkwind co-founder Dave Brock in 1970, Robert joined the underground icons as resident poet, reading his work amid strobes and light cascades on stage.
