Formerly known as LightLikeHope, Veldarose was born in late 2008. Brought together by college and a love of music, the five original band members (Bryan Willsey, Van Santos, Ben Harrington, Nick Culbreath, and former member Hunter Sims) began to write music and perform around Jackson, Tennessee. In the spring, word was received that Hunter would not be returning to the band, and the search of another member to fill the void began.

With the addition of Steven Nance on lead guitar and Ben Harrington’s move to drums in the fall of 2009, Veldarose was created. Originally the name LightLikeHope was going to stick with the band, but in just the few short practices following the re-creation, it was apparent that this was in no way the same band. Every member of the band seemed to have lifted his individual performance from the previous year and the music evolved in accordance. New dynamics, such as more intricate drum parts with screeching guitar lead lines and melodic chords, fueled the band forward and they quickly wrote many songs within their first month of practice.

Although after just one great semester with him, the band had to say goodbye to Steve on guitar. Filling the void will be Brent Young, the Aussie baseball player and previous "positive vibe technician" for the band. The band has started practicing with Brent and have booked multiple shows in the Nashville area during the spring of 2010.
