Apocalyptic City Lyrics

Born into a world of hatred
Nothing to live for
What started with a simple match
Turned into something moreThe pain I felt inside my head
Came on my day of birth
Now the time has come for me
To burn the planet earthI can feel the fire burn inside of me
The power's at my fingers, waiting you shall see
Burn, ignite the population
Burn, causing mass cremation
Burn, feel no shame or pity
Burn, apocalyptic cityYears have passed as I stood still
To plan the final blow
I'll make the town go up in flames
A hellish death they'll knowAs I pour on the gasoline
I listen deep inside
I hear the cries of all my victims
Nowhere to run or hideI can feel the fire burn inside of me

The power's at my fingers, waiting you shall see
Burn, ignite the population
Burn, causing mass cremation
Burn, feel no shame or pity
Burn, apocalyptic cityNow my great assault is over
And my life is done
Staring at my great inferno
Was my only funSo I leave you with my tale
Here my conscious falls
Victim of myself
So now I'll end it allI can feel the fire burn inside of me
The power's at my fingers, waiting you shall see
Burn, ignite the population
Burn, causing mass cremation
Burn, feel no shame or pity
Burn, apocalyptic city

Testament was one of the first thrash metal bands to emerge from the San Francisco Bay Area in the 1980s. Originally formed as 'Legacy' in 1983 by founding members Eric Peterson (rhythm guitar), Derrick Ramirez (guitar) and Louie Clemente (drums), the line-up included vocalist Steve Souza and Greg Christian (bass). Ramirez was later replaced by wunderkind Alex Skolnick (lead guitar). Souza soon departed to join Exodus and suggested that the towering Chuck Billy take over as frontman(and was later run over by a bus).
