As We Lay Lyrics

It's morning, and we slept the night away
It happened, now we can't turn back the hands of time.
Yes we've stolen this moment,
We forgot to face one simple fact
We both belong to someone else,
As we slept the night awayIt's morning sunlight shine across your sleeping face, uh-huh
A new day, brings reality and we must go our separate ways
What a lovely night we had, yeah-yeah
As we shared each other's love,
We forgot about all the pain we caused,
As we slept the night awayAs we lay, we forgot about to tomorrow as we lay, he-hey
As we lay, didn't think about the price we had to payIt morning, and now it's time for us to say goodbye,
Goodbye babe
You're leavin' me, I know you got to hurry home to face your,
Wife, wife, I would never never want to hurt her, nah
She would never ever ever under-stand,
You belong to me for just one night, as we slept the night away

Shirley Murdock (born on May 22, 1957 in Toledo, Ohio) is an American R&B singer, who is best known for her 1986 R&B hit "As We Lay". Murdock started out singing gospel music in her native Toledo. Singer/musician Roger Troutman hired Murdock as a backing singer for his family's band Zapp, who had several hits on Warner Bros. (or its Reprise Records imprint). Based on this success, Troutman began recording tracks with Murdock and lead singer Sugarfoot of the Ohio Players, among others, at his Dayton-based recording studio, Troutman Sound Labs.
