Ascend Lyrics

When I first saw you
You were without love
But your fingers reached
So I just moved inTell me what I'm doing here
Tell me what I'm doing hereTo my surprise I kissed you
You made me rise
Now by my side I've missed you
And let it slideTell me what I'm doing here
Tell me what I'm doing hereIf all I ever wanted wasn't good for you
If the things that I said, they just weren't true
Ascend, ascend my friendI turned my head and looked back
I had been led
When my heart jumped, we lost touch
Our love had slumpedTell me what I'm doing here
Tell me what I'm doing hereIf all I ever wanted wasn't good for you
If the things that I said, they just weren't true
Ascend, ascend my friendI can see you looking down to keep away from me
But I'm stuck with this lack of ability

I can't refrain from coming here
It causes pain, you're so sincere
Ascend, I must ascendSo now alone
I find out your heart is stone
A helping hand
There is none from where I standTell me what I'm doing here
Tell me what I'm doing hereIf all I ever wanted wasn't good for you
If the things that I said, they just weren't true
Then don't restrain from telling me
That all this pain is good for meI can see you looking down to keep away from me
But I'm stuck with this lack of ability
I can't restrain from coming here
It causes pain, you're so sincere
AscendWhat am I doing here?
Tell me
I must ascend
Tell me
Tell me
What am I doing?
What am I doing here?Tell me
I must ascend, ascend
Ascend
Tell me
Tell me
What am I doing?

Broken Walls is a band specializing in indigenous Native American music, primarily in the Mohawk language. The band consists of Jonathan Maracle, a Mohawk of Tyendinaga Territory in Ontario, Canada with Linda, his wife, on occasion, as well as Kris DeLorenzi, Jeremy Radawiec and Bill Pagaran. Broken Walls' sound is distinguished by their extensive use of Native American instruments such as hand drums and eagle wind mohawk flute, as well as their translation of Mohawk singing into English during the course of the song, contrasting with choruses in Mohawk.
