The Dirty Merkins started off as a collaboration between guitarists Mike and TJ. Known then as Skagolag Schmitt, they worked with various local musicians and friends, trying to come up with a different sound amongst the hordes of metal groups emerging from Billerica, MA. Settling in with Philippe on bass and Jon on drums, they gave themselves their current moniker and recorded the UML EP.
