Back To The Honky Tonks Lyrics

I do my best to fit in
I work hard for the man
Big city corporate land under my feet
But when the week is through
I get back my country roots
They can all just kiss my Tony Lama boots
Im being me
And im goin back, im goin back
Chorus
Back to the honky tonks
Back to the honky tonks
Back to that dirt road life I know
Home sweet home away from home
Back to the honky tonks
Back to the honky tonks
I put my dually in drive make my way thru the night
Cross the county line and im feelin free
Cause I know everybody back there

And theyll be throwin down I swear
And on sawdust floor is where
She waits for me
And im goin back, im goin back
Chorus
Back to the honky tonks
Back to the honky tonks
Back to that dirt road life I know
Home sweet home away from home
Back to the honky tonks
Back to the honky tonks
Back to the honky tonks
Back to the George Jones hurtin songs
Home sweet home away from home
Back to the honky tonks
Back to the honky tonks

Dallas-born to a family who loved music, Deryl Dodd grew up on gospel, bluegrass, country and rootsy rock and roll. He was heavily influenced by the soulful southern music at the Hasse Revival Center where his grandfather was pastor of the small town Pentecostal church. Deryl's first performances were there, singing harmony with his three siblings. Guitar at age seven, banjo at thirteen, pedal steel at sixteen - the young Dodd's hands nearly always gripped a stringed instrument.
