Beats - Black Cock

Black Cock is an electro rock band from Austin, Texas. Their members are:

Chico Jones: Vocals, Guitar
Benjamin Kent: Vocals, Drums
Whitney Lee: Vocals, Keyboard

Ben and Chico have been playing together for more than a decade. Chico’s guitars are bright but with a warbly sub-octave power, like Brainiac borrowing from Shellac. There is no electric bass--instead an analog Moog keyboard jags and weaves through the low end. Ben's drumming is at the heart of the songwriting, recorded naturally open and resonant--but carved and crafted in critical moments to push the rhythm section to a dangerous place. Black Cock wasn't complete until Whitney joined the band in 2008. The core of Black Cock's sound is mathy and aggressive and Whitney’s whimsy and sass balances the music and sets this band apart.
