Bein' a Dad Lyrics

So much for picking up when we want to and just going
No more drop of a hat packing a back and getting gone
Ain't had a chance to sleep in since I don't know when
Goodbye to thinking you the only one in the world, worth holding on to
Even if I could I wouldn't change a thing
'Cause God I love bein' a DadThese hand prints and these drawings on the walls in the halls can drive me crazy
Gotta keep anything that means anything way out of reach
That brand new bike is laying out there in the yard and it's raining
I tell them over and over and over
But they don't practice what I preach
I tried to, but I can't stay mad
Oh man, I love bein' a Dad
It keeps me young, it takes me back
It makes me cry, it makes me laugh
It's what I do, it's why I breath
My flesh and blood, my legacy
It's the hardest and most rewarding job I've ever had
Ain't nothing like bein' a DadWe got these old training wheels we don't know what to do with

Before we know it they'll outgrow those bikes in the yard
And just like that they'll be driving like there's nothing to it
We'll help them pack and wave goodbye as they leave in their new used car
I guess we'll get our old lives back, but I ain't looking forward to that
'Cause, man, I love bein' a Dad
It keeps me young, it takes me back
It makes me cry, it makes me laugh
It's what I do, it's why I breath
My flesh and blood, my legacy
It's the hardest and most rewarding job I've ever had
Ain't nothing like bein' a DadGod, I love bein' a Dad

The Missouri-born Chris Janson has electrified Nashville's country music scene. In fact, it only took two days at a local Nashville bar to incite a wave of interest from country music's biggest record labels. It could be his intense and vocally stunning performances, his remarkable ability to play the harmonica, or the depth of his songs, but there is something remarkable about this 21 year-old phenomenon. Chris' budding music career has even taken him to the big screen, when legendary film director Johnathan Demme (Silence of the Lambs, Philadelphia, Stop Making Sense) invited him to participate in "Heart of Gold" a documentary capturing Neil Young's 2-night performance at the Historic Ryman Auditorium. Asked to describe his sound, Chris replies that it combines "elements of rock & roll, folk, blues, roots music, and vintage country." Nashville's critics been buzzing with excitement about this emerging star, and have even likened him to a combination of Mick Jagger and Hank Williams Sr. Chris readily acknowledges his influences, but he has a confidence in his identity that transcends his age. "I want to sound like Chris Janson," he says, "It's just what you see on stage, that's what you'll get on my record. I'm not afraid to push the limits. I don't have a set list at my shows, I just play songs. It's all about soul and feel". And as all great country music stars and rock & roll legends are marked by their authenticity and originality, Chris Janson is on that same path toward greatness. Read more on Last.fm.
