Best of Your Heart (feat. Chaka Khan) Lyrics

Don't let them get the best
Of your heart, leave the rest up to love
And you'll be takin' care ofDon't let them get the best
Of your heart, leave the rest up to love
And you'll be takin' care ofMany come to try to tear away your heart
Never carin' for you from the very start
Still you wonder if this time could be real
Tryin' to figure out if they came just to stealDon't let them get the best
Of your heart, leave the rest up to love
And you'll be takin' care ofDon't let them get the best
Of your heart, leave the rest up to love
And you'll be takin' care ofTime and time again you've listened to a smile
Never knowin' what's behind it all the while
You get yourself away until love is gone
And don't consider that they might be doin' harmDon't let them get the best
Of your heart, leave the rest up to love
And you'll be takin' care ofDon't let them get the best
Of your heart, leave the rest up to love

And you'll be takin' care ofHey, there, you let him wipe away that little tear
You tryin so hard to hold back what you really feel
Always look inside the people that you're with
And never hang around those who can not giveDon't let them get the best
Of your heart, leave the rest up to love
And you'll be takin' care ofDon't let them get the best
Of your heart, leave the rest up to love
And you'll be takin' care ofDon't let them get the best
Of your heart, leave the rest up to love
And you'll be takin' care of

Rufus gained a fan in Stevie Wonder thanks to their cover of his "Maybe Your Baby." Wonder gave them a new composition, the slowly grinding "Tell Me Something Good," that he'd written specifically with Khan's vocal style in mind. Pulled as a single from their second album, 1974's Rags to Rufus, "Tell Me Something Good" was a Top Five smash that turned Rufus and Khan into stars....
