Big Road Blues Lyrics

I ain't goin' down that big road by myself
I ain't goin' down that big road by myself
If I can't carry my baby, gon' carry somebody else
Sun don't shine in my back door somedays
Sun don't shine in my back door somedays
Big wind gonna blow up, take my blues away
(???)
Reach in the corner mama hand me my travelin shoes
you know I got them big road blues
Sun gonna shine in my back door someday
The sun gonna shine in my back door someday
Big wind gonna blow up, take my blues away
I ain't goin' down that big road by myself
I said I ain't goin' down that big road by myself

If I can't carry my baby, gon' carry somebody else

Mississippi Marvel is a 78-year-old (2008) Delta bluesman. Like countless bluesmen before him, he has lived a life steeped in two separate and opposing traditions: The reckless abandon of a juke joint on Saturday night, and the healing redemption of church on Sunday. And like many of those earlier bluesmen, this artist has never reconciled these two warring factions of his identity. Although he still occasionally turns up at his neighborhood juke, the artist today devotes more attention to his local church community.
