Black Capricorn Day Lyrics

Advisory - the following lyrics contain explicit language:
Hey hey
Hey hey
Let the rain come down on me
Hey hey
Hey heyI see people and they're craving blood
And I'm so rarely understood
Well I don't know what they want from me
It's gonna take sometime just to let them seeI'm going through a black, hey, Capricorn day
And though it doesn't seem so
I've got to get this wayI'm going through a black, hey, Capricorn day

Though you want to check me out
I'm not the man to play, play, play, playHey hey
Don't you see I'm not the man to play
Hey hey
No way you can play with me today
Hey hey
Just let me sing it to my Capricorn day
Hey heyMy heart is a pure sun and the sky is black
And I can feel cold steel when I turn my back
It stings like needles with a jagged tongue
You know how this scream reminds me of when I was so youngI never had any of those black, hey, Capricorn days
Though it doesn't seem so
I've got to get this wayI'm going through a black, hey, Capricorn day
And though you want to check me out
I'm not the man to, play, play, play, playIt's just too black for me
It's just too black for me
It's just too black for meI'm stuck on the highway leading straight to hell
Like any other drifter with a soul to sell
You know I'm dealing with the devil in everyone I meet
And their faces tell a story that life is so sweetAnd I'm going through a black, hey, Capricorn day
And though it doesn't seem so
I've got to get this wayAnd I'm going through a black, hey, Capricorn day
And though you want to check me out
I'm not the man to, not the man to play no, no, no
(Play, play, play, play)Black, hey, Capricorn day
And though it doesn't seem so
I've got to get this way, got to get this wayBlack, hey, Capricorn day
And though you want to check me out, you want to check me out
I'm not the man to playIt's just too black for me
It's just too black for me
It's just too black for me

Jamiroquai is a funk/acid jazz band which formed in London, England, United Kingdom in 1992. The band currently consists of Jason 'Jay Kay' Cheetham (vocals), Matt Johnson (keyboards), Rob Harris (guitar), Paul Turner (bass), Derrick McKenzie (drums) , Sola Akingbola (percussion), Lorraine McIntosh (backing vocals) and Hazel Fernandez (backing vocals). The name "Jamiroquai" is derived from the Native American Iroquois tribe, with which Kay has said he identifies philosophically, combined with 'Jam', as in musical jamming.

After Jay Kay auditioned unsuccessfully to be the singer of the Brand New Heavies, he decided to put together his own band. Jamiroquai's first single, "When You Gonna Learn?", was released in 1992 on the Acid Jazz label. Following its success, Kay signed a £1,000,000 eight-album record deal with Sony BMG Music Entertainment. The band enjoys worldwide popularity and is the best-known member of the early-1990s London-based acid jazz movement, alongside groups such as Incognito, Galliano, and Corduroy. Jamiroquai has since, however, moved in other musical directions.
