Boy Next Door Lyrics

I've known you since you were a schoolgirl
Saw the smoke turn to fire in your eyes
From the window of my room
I watched a young girl bloom
Saw the woman in you come aliveWatched you fall in love a time or two
I saw you get hurt once or twice
And you'd come running over, cry on my shoulder
Sometimes I'd get to hold you all nightThere in my arms you'd lay soft and warm
You never felt the writing on the wall
You never knew how I wanted you
I was the boy next door, that's all
Just the boy next door, that's allI watched you drift away out of my reach
I never got to hold you again
And here in my heart is the saddest part
We'll never know how it might have beenThere in my arms you'd lay soft and warm
I sure love to catch you when you fall
But you never knew how I wanted you
I was the boy next door, that's all

Just the boy next door, that's allDo you ever think about me, honey?
The boy next door, that's all

Conway Twitty (1 September 1933 – 5 June 1993), born Harold Lloyd Jenkins, was one of the United States' most successful artists of the 20th century. Twitty had the most singles (55) reach Number 1 on various national music charts. Conway Twitty's across the board totals were greater than that of Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, the Beatles, and Garth Brooks. Most notably known as a country music singer, Twitty also enjoyed success in early Rock and Roll, R&B, and Pop music (among other genres). He teamed up with Loretta Lynn to form one of country music's most successful business partnerships.
