Break These Chains Lyrics

(taylor rhodes/jeff ross)I just want to seek your love
And you to call my name
But I'm tied to another heart
Like a ball and chain
Shackled to a touch
That's as cold as steel
And all I need is for you to say to me
That our love is real to break these chainsI don't wanna go back - no
Just to know you love me would break these chains
I don't wanna go back - no
She and I will never be the same
So break these chainsYou have opened my eyes
And I've finally seen
Love turns to a tie that binds when it's judgemeny day
She is not my lover
She's just a prison door
Say the words you know will turn me loose
I can't take this pain no more

Break these chainsI don't wanna go back - no
Just to know you love me would break these chains
I don't wanna go back - no
She and I will never be the same
So break these chainsStraps so tight they're cutting me
Cuts so deep they make my heart bleed
Only you could set me free
All it takes is your touch
To break these chains- guitar solo -I don't wanna go back - no
Just to know you love me would break these chains
I don't wanna go back - no
She and I will never be the same
I don't wanna go back - no
Just to know you love me would break these chains
I don't wanna go back - no
She and I will never never be the sameOh lord - break these chains
Never never never never never going back
I don't wanna go back - no
Oh lord - break these chains

Dr. Feelgood are a British pub rock band, formed in 1971. The classic line-up included Lee Brilleaux (b. 1953, d. 7 April 1994; vocals/harmonica), Wilko Johnson (b. John Wilkinson, 1947; guitar), John B. Sparks (b. 1953; bass) and John 'The Big Figure' Martin (drums). Initially based in Canvey Island, Essex, on the Thames estuary, Dr. Feelgood broke into the London circuit in 1974. Brilleaux's menacing personality complemented Johnson's propulsive, jerky stage manner, while the guitarist's staccato style dominated the group's idiosyncratic brand of angular rhythm and blues.
