Bummer Lyrics

I loved this person who didn't love me
I stuck around, hoping that they would see
Unwilling to loose -Reluctant to care
So confident in the substances we'd share
There was a ghost who haunted my head
Paid close attention to every word he said
Gave him perfection gave all I could give
But what he wanted -was for me not to live
Blank and so beautiful- beige and benign
You're pulling ahead - left me falling behind
Bummer
Blank and so beautiful beige and benign
You're pulling ahead left me I'm falling behind
Bummer
Blank and so beautiful- beige and benign
You pulled ahead - left me failing
I threw a party

But nobody came
I threw a party and I was never the same
I threw a party
But nobody came
I threw a party band I was never the same

The Grifters were a nationally popular and influential 1990s indie rock band based in Memphis who released albums on Doink, Sonic Noise, Shangri-la Records, and Sub Pop Records. The band originally formed in the late 1980s as A Band Called Bud, with vocalist/guitarist Scott Taylor, bassist Tripp Lamkins, and drummer Dave Shouse. After being renamed the Grifters (after the novel by Jim Thompson) by 1990, Shouse joined Taylor on guitar, with Stanley Gallimore taking over on the drums. Songwriting duties where shared between Shouse, Taylor and Lamkins.
