CHAPEL HILL Lyrics

Back in the days when the battles raged
And we thought it was nothin'
A bookstore man meets the CIA and we know
Throw me a cord and plug it in, get the cradle rockin'
And out with the redneck pig, old men, and it's goThe hair in the hole in my head, too bad the scene is dead
The memories in the shadow, back in time againAnd I can't forget your terrorized face
When you cried for the shameless
Wasted life Ameri-K-K-can and you smile
So, why should we run when we cannot hide? And my flag is burnin'
And we could be wrong but that's alright, we'll rise againThe hair in the hole in my head, too bad the scene is dead
The memories in the shadow, it's back in time againLookin' away it's another day and of course we love you
Radical man is the CIA and we say no
We'll round up the Durham H.C. kids, and the Char Grill Killers
Jesse H. come into our pit, all ages showThe hair in the hole in my head, too bad the scene is dead
The memories in the shadow, it's back in time again

This Way to the Egress is a well oiled musical machine, running on a tank of piss and vinegar, and comprised of an unholy union of characters so varied (and at times, volatile) that to tell the story of Egress is like telling the story of Shiva’s dance of creation and destruction before and after each cosmic cycle. But varied as the cast may be, two unifying goals remain: The first is to present a sound not only true to its Vaudeville roots, but also not shy about pushing boundaries and evolving as a band (and musical family).
