Forget what you know about Adversaries. With their impending full length album "Wraith" all of that is about to change.

Originally Adversaries was the next incarnation of Portland deathcore band Jules Verne. After firing their singer during the recording process of their debut EP, the band enlisted the services of Alex Aro, formerly of Shot Down Sun and Vallon. Guitarist Myles Kimball was also a former member of Shot Down Sun.

After recording the EP the band began playing shows throughout New England and embarked on an East Coast tour with fellow Maine band Legend Has It. After coming home from tour the band had grown tired of the deathcore sound and began writing vastly different new material.

"After playing our songs for months we had grown so tired of the formulaic nature of them. We were sick of breakdowns and everything else. When we started writing new material, we realized it wasn't going to fit with our previous songs. We are pretty much reinventing ourselves," says Aro.

Now Adversaries is a whole new beast. Darker, faster, smarter and most importantly, more passionate. Shying away from the elements on their previous EP and embracing sounds more akin to bands like Converge, Poison The Well and The Banner.

"We are all very excited for the new material," says Kimball. "We don't play breakdowns anymore, so some kids might not dig it but we all love it. There is so much more energy between us and all the songs have come together so naturally. It's as though this shift was meant to happen."
