Catching On (Live at the Bottom Line 2/12/96) Lyrics

Can't find the reason
Can't find the way
Guess it's not you and me
Only dogs have their dayAnother case of words that melt
It's not a question of right
Nightmares in broad daylightSeason crash, season burn
You survive another turn
And now I'm reaching out, it's trueWhen you don't see me
I'm catching on to you
You don't see me
I'm catching on to youTook a break to get that far
Like the sound from a hundred-dollar guitar
Bought from an old catalog
Yesterday's dust and heartacheAs the pieces fall
Like candy when you're young
Medicine when you're old
There's no reason or rhyme
Side stepping around

On an elevator climbWhen you don't see me
I'm catching on to youAnother jail, another burned-out inside
Skeleton love left to die
Take whatever lies ahead
The good with the bad, and leave the restWhen you don't see me
I'm catching on to you
You don't see me
I'm catching on to youCatching on
Catching on

Son Volt is an alternative country group which formed in 1994 in St. Louis, Missouri. The band currently consists of Jay Farrar (vocals, guitar), Chris Masterson (guitar), Andrew Duplantis (bass, vocals), Mark Spencer (keyboards) and Dave Bryson (drums). Farrar is the only original member remaining in the band. Son Volt formed after the breakup of the band Uncle Tupelo, owing to the simmering creative differences between songwriters Farrar and Jeff Tweedy. The group's members lived in Minneapolis, St Louis, and New Orleans at the time.
