Chapel Hill Boogie (with John Dee Holeman) Lyrics

When you go to Chapel Hill, Chapel Hill's on the ball,
When you go to Chapel Hill and get a drink of alcohol,
And do the boogie,
Do the Chapel Hill boogie,
Do the Chapel Hill boogie well I'll boogie-woogie all night long.I was standin' on a corner with a glass in my hand,
She come by an' say "Woo, that's my man!",
Do the boogie,
The Chapel Hill boogie,
Do the Chapel Hill boogie well I'll boogie-woogie all night long.Boogie a-while now!Momma killed a chicken, she thought it was a duck,
She put it on the table with its legs stickin' up,
Do the Chapel Hill boogie,
Do the Chapel Hill boogie,
Do the Chapel Hill boogie, boogie-woogie all night long. An' all the lil' chickens they were all standin' round,
They all done the boogie 'til the sun went down,
Do the boogie,
Chapel Hill boogie,
Do the Chapel Hill boogie well I'll boogie-woogie all night long.Yeah boogie! You see all the lil' chickens they were all standin' round,
They all done the boogie 'til the sun went down,

Do the boogie,
Chapel Hill boogie,
Do the Chapel Hill boogie well I'll boogie all night long.Well I'll go to Chapel Hill, Chapel Hill is a ball,
Go to Chapel Hill get a drink of alcohol,
Do the Chapel Hill boogie,
Do the Chapel Hill boogie,
Do the Chapel Hill boogie, boogie-woogie all night long.Go to Tin-Top, Tin-Top is right,
Go to Tin-Top they start a fuss an' fight,
Do the Chapel Hill boogie,
Do the Chapel Hill boogie,
Do the Chapel Hill boogie well I'll boogie-woogie all night long.Wait a while!I said Momma, Momma Momma won't ya look at this,
Standin' in the backyard doin' something like this,
Do the boogie,
Chapel Hill boogie,
Do the Chapel Hill boogie well I'll boogie all night long.

Kenny Wayne Shepherd and his group exploded on the scene in the mid-'90s and garnered huge amounts of radio airplay on commercial radio, which historically has not been a solid home for blues and blues-rock music, with the exception of Stevie Ray Vaughan in the mid-'80s. Shepherd was born June 12, 1977, in Shreveport, LA. The Shreveport native began playing at age seven, figuring out Muddy Waters licks from his father's record collection (he has never taken a formal lesson).
