Children Go Where I Send Thee Lyrics

Children go where I send thee
How shall I send thee?Well, I'm gonna send thee one by one
One for the itty, bitty babyWho was born, born, born in Bethlehem
Said He was born, born, born in BethlehemChildren go where I send thee
How shall I send thee?Hey, I'm gonna send thee two by two
Two for Paul and Silas
One for the itty, bitty babyWho was born, born, born in Bethlehem
Said He was born, born, born in BethlehemChildren go where I send thee
How shall I send thee?I'm gonna send thee three by three
Three for the Hebrew children
Two for Paul and Silas
One for the itty, bitty babyWho was born, born, born in Bethlehem
Said He was born, born, born in BethlehemChildren go where I send thee
How shall I send thee?I'm gonna send thee, four by four
Four for the four that stood at the door
Three for the Hebrew childrenTwo for Paul and Silas
One for the itty, bitty babyWho was born, born, born in BethlehemChildren go where I send thee
How shall I send thee?I'm gonna send thee, five by five

Five for the five that stayed alive
Four for the four that stood at the doorThree for the Hebrew children
Two for Paul and Silas
One for the itty, bitty babyWho was born, born, born in Bethlehem
Said He was born, born, born, born in BethlehemChildren go where I send thee
How shall I send thee?I'm gonna send thee, six by six
Six for the six that never got fixed
Five for the five that stayed aliveFour for the four that stood at the door
Three, three for the Hebrew children
Two for Paul and Silas
One for the itty, bitty babyWho was born, born, born in BethlehemChildren go where I send thee
How shall I send thee?Well, I'm gonna send thee, seven by seven
Seven for the seven who never got to heaven
Six for the six that never got fixedFive for the five that stayed alive
Four for the four that stood at the door
Three for the Hebrew childrenTwo for Paul and Silas
And one for the itty, bitty babyThat was born, born, born in BethlehemChildren go where I send thee
How shall I send thee?Well, I'm gonna send thee, eight by eight
Eight for the eight that stood at the gate
Seven for the seven that never got to heavenSix for the six that never got fixed
Five for the five that stayed alive
Four for the four that stood at the doorThree for the Hebrew children
Two for Paul and Silas
One for the itty, bitty babyWho was born, born, born in Bethlehem
Said He was born, born, born, born in BethlehemWell, children go where I send thee
How shall I send thee?I'm gonna send thee, nine by nine
Nine for the nine that dressed so fine
Eight for the eight that stood at the gateSeven for the seven that never got to heaven
Six for the six that never got fixed
Five for the five that stayed aliveFour for the four that stood at the door
Three for the Hebrew children
Two for Paul and Silas
One for the itty, bitty babyWho was born, born, born in Bethlehem
Said He was born, born, born in BethlehemWell, children go where I send thee
How shall I send thee?Well, I'm gonna send thee, ten by ten
Ten for the ten commandments
Nine for the nine that dressed so fineEight for the eight that stood at the gate
Seven for the seven that never got to heaven
Six for the six that never got fixedFive for the five that stayed alive
Four for the four that stood at the door
Three for the Hebrew childrenTwo for Paul and Silas
One for the itty, bitty babyWho was born, born, born in Bethlehem
He was born, born, born, born in Bethlehem

The trio Peter, Paul and Mary (often PP&M) is an American musical group that was one of the most successful folk-singing groups of the 1960s. The trio comprises Peter Yarrow, Noel Paul Stookey, and Mary Travers. The group was created by manager Albert Grossman, who sought to create a folk "supergroup" by bringing together "a tall blonde (Travers), a funny guy (Stookey), and a good looking guy (Yarrow)." He launched the group in 1961, booking them into the Bitter End, a coffee house in New York City's Greenwich Village that was a favorite place to hear folk artists.
