Clean Slate Lyrics

Girl, I must confess
I really made a mess
Of loving you
But baby, even though
I know I hurt you so
My love is true
I just wanna start over
Please give me one more chance
I just got to try
To somehow make it right
I know I can, I know that I can
Just give me a clean slate
Let me wipe away all the mistakes
What I need is a new start
To find my way back into your heart
I know it's not too late

If you will let me have a clean slate
I know I promised you
That I would never do
The things that I've done, oh babe
It took a while to see
How much you mean to me
Girl, you're the only one
I'll prove my love to you
I'll righten every wrong
Girl, you're gonna see
Although I might be weak
My love is strong, so strong
Just give me a clean slate
Let me wipe away all the mistakes
What I need is a new start
To find my way back into your heart
I know it's not too late
If you will let me have a clean slate
I just wanna start over
Please give me one more chance
I just got to try
To somehow make it right
I know I can, I know that I can
Just give me a clean slate
Let me wipe away all the mistakes
All I need is a new start
To find my way back into your heart
Won't you let me have a clean slate?
Tell me, baby that it's not too late
I gotta find me a new start
Find my way back into your heart
Won't you let me have a clean slate?

Coco Montoya (b. 1951 in Santa Monica, CA) is a blues guitarist and former member of John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers. Montoya's career began in the mid-70's when Albert Collins asked him to join his band as drummer. Collins took Montoya under his wing and taught him his "icy hot" guitar style. The two remained friends even after Montoya left Collins' band. In the early 80's John Mayall heard Montoya playing guitar in a Los Angles bar. Soon after Mayall asked Montoya to join the newly reformed Bluesbreakers. He remained a member of the band for 10 years.
