Cover Lyrics

When you get home
There's gonna be a big present
Waitin' on your bedside table
She said, "It's your, Stanley knife
Smile, cutting in to me"That's why I cover my ears
When you talk to me, that's why
That's why I cover my ears
When you talk to me, that's whySo you sit there, sister gettin' cold
With only camel lights to keep you warmer
You're in a great big car, now, pollutin'
That coffee cup has never looked so good
It's the way you say my name like you're jokin'That's why I cover my ears
When you talk to me, that's why
That's why I cover my ears
When you talk to me, that's whyYou're not gonna get very far
With a smile like that
You're not gonna get very far
With a smile like thatYou're not gonna get very far

With a smile like that
You're not gonna get very far
With a smile like that
You're not gonna get very far
With a smile like thatThat's why I cover my ears
When you talk to me, that's why
That's why I cover my ears
When you talk to me, that's why

London's eclectic one-man band Tom Vek (born 1981, London, UK) combines electronic music with indie rock, punk with dance, and influences like new wave and garage (and also made most of his early recordings in his parents' garage, too). As a teen in the mid-'90s, Vek was inspired by grunge and began making rock along the lines of Smashing Pumpkins and Pearl Jam; before that, he backed his guitarist father on bass and drums in their practice space/garage.
