Dancing for Money Lyrics

/pre>
A f#m
When I ask you for a light you don't turn the lights out
A f#m
When I'm looking for a fight you don't punch my lights out
E a d
Sometimes they say love is invincible
E a d
I wouldn't go as far as to say that
E a d
One thing I know one thing is certain honey
E d
We're not dancing for money ooo ooooWhen I ask you for a buck you don't call me deer
When I try to push my luck you don't twist my ear
Sometimes when i'm blind drunk I see it all
But I can't do anything about it
I fall on my face and jerk like a puppet honey
Just like dancing for money (then) instrumental verseFamiliarity breeds contempt so I turn off the radio

From life's pain I'm not exempt I'm just lucky I can go
Some other place where there's a sun up high
Right in my face for once in a lifetime
I'm not a slave, I'm not a captain honey
I'm not dancing for moneyE a d
I'm not a slave, I'm not a captive
E a d
I'm not in chains or nailed to a cross
E a d
One thing's for sure one thing is certain honey
E d e d
I'm not dancing for money I'm not dancing for money
A d
Oooh not dancing for money (4 times) /pre>

Graham Parker (born November 18, 1950 in London) is a British rock singer and songwriter. He continues to be best-known as the leader (and singer) of the popular British band Graham Parker & The Rumour, though he has has a number of solo albums to his name. Despite moderate commercial success, he has consistently been hailed by critics as one the most prominent musicians of his generation, with his wittily-heated, often class-conscious lyrics and energy-fueled music preceding the arrival punk rock and new wave music.
