Stupefaction Lyrics

The sun is burnin'
It never changes
The people look up
With nothing in their eyeballsThey stare at billboards
As if for guidance
There's something wrong here
I can't but my finger onSame thing, same way
Everyday stupefaction, oh yeahDrive out on sunset
But nothing's moving
The lights are green
Or is that my imaginationThe people sit there
Cameras without action
I can't see the point
But I see the attractionAnd the same thing, same way
Everyday stupefaction, oh yeahWe're gonna get clear outta this some day
Because the comfort's so appealing
The bodies so revealing just get to feeling
Like a wheel without traction

Stupefaction, oh yeahI ask the landlord
How much you makin'?
Don't you get tired
Of just taking and takingI ask the neighbor
Why are you so stupid?
Giving us those dirty looks
And tryin' to murder cupidIt's the same thing, same way
Everyday stupefaction, ah yeahWe're gonna get clear outta this some day
Because the comfort's so appealing
The bodies so revealing just get to feeling
Like a wheel without traction
Stupefaction, oh yeahTurn up the TV
Turn up the radio
Turn up the volume
Nothing seems to matterLay back and slumber
Bring out the number
Ask the operator
What spell are we under? It's the same thing, same way
Everyday, stupefaction, ah yeah
Stupid, stupid, stupid
(Hey, hey, hey)
Stupid stupid stupid
(Hey, hey, hey)Stupid stupid stupid
(Hey, hey, hey)
Stupid stupid stupid
(Hey, hey, hey)Stupid stupid stupid
(Hey, hey, hey)
Stupid stupid stupid
(Hey, hey, hey)Same thing, same way
Everyday, stupefaction, ah yeah
Stupid stupid stupid
(Hey, hey, hey)
Stupid stupid stupid
(Hey, hey, hey)Stupid stupid stupid
(Hey, hey, hey)
Stupid stupid stupid
(Hey, hey, hey)

Graham Parker (born November 18, 1950 in London) is a British rock singer and songwriter. He continues to be best-known as the leader (and singer) of the popular British band Graham Parker & The Rumour, though he has has a number of solo albums to his name. Despite moderate commercial success, he has consistently been hailed by critics as one the most prominent musicians of his generation, with his wittily-heated, often class-conscious lyrics and energy-fueled music preceding the arrival punk rock and new wave music.
