Classical Jam (CJ) is committed to presenting engaging, lively, and high-caliber performances to diverse audiences. Known for their sparkling style and creative concert programs, CJ unites acclaimed soloists and chamber musicians for performances that delight both new and established classical music audiences.
Classical Jam’s wide-ranging repertoire includes traditional classical works, exciting improvisations, commissioned new works, and CJ original compositions. Classical Jam aims to develop a personal relationship between concertgoers, performers, and composers by inviting audiences to share in the process of creation and discovery.
CJ members (Jennifer Choi, violin; Cyrus Beroukhim, viola; Wendy Law, cello; Marco Granados, flute; and Justin Hines, percussion) perform regularly with “Musicians from Marlboro,” Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, and Ethel. Individually, they have appeared as soloists with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, the Singapore Symphony, the Juilliard Orchestra, the Oregon Symphony and the Virginia Symphony, among others. Members have performed in venues throughout Europe, Asia, the Americas, and the Middle East. Along with their dedication to their individual careers, members of Classical Jam are teaching artists at such leading organizations as the Lincoln Center Institute, the New York Philharmonic, 92nd Street Y and Carnegie Hall.
CJ was recently selected by Concert Artists Guild to receive the Cary Trust Fund for Contemporary Music Projects, in commissioning composer Randall Woolf for a new work for the ensemble. A grant from the Puffin Foundation LTD. was also awarded to Classical Jam in collaboration with filmmaker Kasia Witek in producing "Classical Jam-A Documentary.
Figuring prominently in the ensemble’s recent season was a five-day residency at Strathmore focusing on Eastern musical influences. Performances featured world premieres by Randall Woolf, Payton MacDonald, and Classical Jam with members of the Maryland Classic Youth Orchestra. Upcoming performances include Lincoln Center Meet The Artist Series, NY; Montalvo Arts Center, CA; Rockport Music, MA; Lee University Presidential Concert Series, TN; Dogwood Center, MI; and the Forum Series, St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. Classical Jam concerts range from subscription concert series, concerto appearances with orchestras, to in-school concerts, bringing the highest caliber of music to diverse audiences.
