Influenced by rap legends KRS-ONE, Run-DMC, Public Enemy, Slick Rick, Kool C, Steady B amongst others, Preston studied everything about hip-hop and adopted it as a way of life. In 1996, he began distributing mixtapes and quickly became a major source for street vendors and local music spots in the DC metro area. A student by day and a barber/deejay by night he quickly became a part of DC’s underground hip-hop scene and was given the name “P-Cutta.” "I was a barber at the time so people would come through get a cut and listen to newest and hottest mixtapes.
