Desert Lyrics

She sends a message, scary communication
She never speaks a word, and we take from what we see
It's so sad to say she's got obligations
The thought of leaving deserts, it kills the honestySpread the disease (We take from what we see)
We're down on our knees (it kills the honesty)
Search for the answers
But you fill our heads with liesIt's just not right, you ran out of time
Standing with your back to the river's edge
Only when it's dried, would you flee for your life
Even with your back to the river, back to the river?Got the advantage of a blood-thirsty nation
She never speaks a word, and we take from what we see
It's so sad it makes for good conversation
The talk of leaving deserts, it kills the honestySearch for the answers
But you fill our heads with liesIt's just not right, you ran out of time
Standing with your back to the river's edge
Only when it's dried, would you flee for your life
Even with your back to the river, back to the river?
It's just not right, you ran out of time

Standing with your back to the river's edge
Only when it's dried, would you flee for your life
Even with your back to the river, back to the river? So you know, now it's broke
Find your own miracle
Because you're chocking on your alibis
Now you know that it's broke
Find your own miracle
Because you filled our heads with liesIt's just not right, you ran out of time
Standing with your back to the river's edge
Only when it's dried, would you flee for your life
Even with your back to the river, back to the river?
It's just not right, you ran out of time
Standing with your back to the river's edge
Only when it's dried, would you flee for your life
Even with your back to the river, back to the river?Back to the river, back to the river
Back to the river

coo:ya's music is written by Yasuyuki Honda (a.k.a. Kurage Honda), former keyboardist of “GRASS VALLEY” - a revolutionary band that debuted on the New Wave scene in the 1980s. After disbanding, Honda continued to write music and work as a sound producer for other artists and OVAs. Honda formed "face to ace" in 2001 with Ace Shimizu, who is the former guitarist of Seikima-II.

coo:ya's words are thoughtfully crafted and brought to life by miyo, who stays true to the culture of her native Japan where there was once a belief that a spiritual force known as “kotodama” reside in words. Miyo has worked on writing and a variety of other creative projects mainly in her former prefecture of Aichi. Since 2008, miyo has been the vocalist of the band "Tokyo Anastasia." She also works as a model and an MC.

The two, both skeptical of the mainstream "royal road" of the Japanese music scene, met in 1998 via a music producer. They immediately hit it off and formed the band coo:ya.

coo:ya's lyrics are all in Japanese (except for their early works), due to miyo's love for the intrinsic beauty of the language (again, I made it simpler). Their songs weave yin and yang of emotions that are universal to all human beings. coo:ya continues to depict an agonizing, visional, and yet realistic world through their personal mind filters, without being confined to any genre of music.

As coo:ya only releases songs that both miyo and Honda are truly satisfied with, the unveiling of new work is highly irregular. coo:ya does not perform live shows, which makes them a solitary band that is far away from "commercial music."
