Desert Night Lyrics

Your touch is taking me away from here
I'm alright, with no direction, hey
Too much, you're making me forget myself
Let's take a ride across the desert nightAnd when the sun comes out
In the morning light
I can feel you there
Oh, look at me now
Look at me now
I'm right hereAnd as the light spills out
In the sleepless air
You will see me there
Don't go anywhere, go anywhere
Wait right hereI'm alright
Oh, look at me now
I'm alright
Oh, look at me nowAnd when the sun comes up
In the morning light
I can feel you there

And when the sun comes up
In the morning lightYou said, I'm looking for my happiness
I want to try to feel connected, hey
And the rush of falling into emptiness
I want to drive under the street light(And when the sun)Oh, look at me now
Look at me now
I'm right hereAnd as the light spills out
Of the sleepless air
You will see me there
Don't go anywhere, go anywhere
Wait right hereI'm alright
Oh, look at me now
I'm alright
Oh, look at me nowAnd when the sun comes up
In the morning light
I can feel you there
And when the sun comes up
In the morning lightI'm alright
I'm alright

A 1970s funk band, best known for launching the career of their lead singer, Chaka Khan. Major hits during their career include "Tell Me Something Good," "Sweet Thing," and "Ain't Nobody"
Rufus gained a fan in Stevie Wonder thanks to their cover of his "Maybe Your Baby." Wonder gave them a new composition, the slowly grinding "Tell Me Something Good," that he'd written specifically with Khan's vocal style in mind. Pulled as a single from their second album, 1974's Rags to Rufus, "Tell Me Something Good" was a Top Five smash that turned Rufus and Khan into stars....
