Diamonds In the Rough Lyrics

Diamond In The Rough
Don’t give up no matter what you do
Your God isn’t through with you
Someday you will be a polished living stone
Though now you are a diamond in the rough.
Diamond in the rough
Diamond in the rough
Don’t give in, not even if you sin
Just cast all your cares on Him
Someday you will be a polished living stone
Though now you are a diamond in the rough.
Diamond in the rough
Diamond in the rough

Love your neighbour as you love yourself
But you must learn to love yourself
Someday you will be a polished living stone
Though now you are a diamond in the rough.
Esteem your brother higher, higher than yourself
But you must esteem yourself
Someday you will be a polished living stone
Though now you are a diamond in the rough.
Diamond in the rough
Diamond in the rough
You are a diamond,
You are a diamond
You are a diamond

Honeytree was born into a family of professional classical musicians. Honeytree (a translation from German of her family name) was drawn toward the hippie kids at school. She became a drug addict and one summer in 1970 she met some Jesus People at her sister's art school, and became one herself. After graduating, she worked at a youth ministry in Ft. Wayne, Indiana called Adams Apple, a part of the Jesus movement, and it was during these years that she began to write songs about her Christianity, recording her self-titled first album in 1973.
