Searchlight Lyrics

Take one step and make it count
Hold your breath then let it out
What's left unsaid, say it loud
There's a fire in me
That's still burningI'm sending out a searchlight
Shine it out until I find you, oh
Can you bring me back to life
When my heart's in smithereens
I wanna feel what it's like
To be surrounded by you, oh
So I'm sending out a searchlight
To bring you back to meI'm lost again in this night
The sun just leads me into shadows
In my bones, in my blood
You cure my disease
Like a remedyI'm sending out a searchlight
Shine it out until I find you, oh
Can you bring me back to life

When my heart's in smithereens
I wanna feel what it's like
To be surrounded by you, oh
So I'm sending out a searchlight
To bring you back to meLike a wild river
In a hurricane
Like a fallen empire
I will rise again
Take one step
And make it countI'm sending out a searchlight
Shine it out until I find you, oh
Can you bring me back to life
When my heart's in smithereens
I wanna feel what it's like
To be surrounded by you, oh
So I'm sending out a searchlight
To bring you back to me

Honeytree was born into a family of professional classical musicians. Honeytree (a translation from German of her family name) was drawn toward the hippie kids at school. She became a drug addict and one summer in 1970 she met some Jesus People at her sister's art school, and became one herself. After graduating, she worked at a youth ministry in Ft. Wayne, Indiana called Adams Apple, a part of the Jesus movement, and it was during these years that she began to write songs about her Christianity, recording her self-titled first album in 1973.
