Doesn't Mean I Don't Love You Lyrics

When I walk out on our war
The last shot fired, the slamming door
When I can't take it anymore
And I take a driveWhen the words that I just spoke
Are aimed straight for your throat
When I should hold you but I don't
And just turn out the lightsIt doesn't mean I'm done
It doesn't mean I've given up on us
It doesn't mean our love doesn't mean everything
'Cause it doesIt doesn't mean I'm gone
Even when I do the things
That I hate that I do
It doesn't mean I don't love youWhen the words you need don't cross my lips
When I forget a goodbye kiss
When you feel last on my list
For the hundredth timeWhen I'm out late with all my friends
I lose track of time and don't check in
When I'm wrong and I know I am

And don't apologizeIt doesn't mean I'm done
It doesn't mean I've given up on us
It doesn't mean our love doesn't mean everything
'Cause it doesIt doesn't mean I'm gone
Even when I do the things
That I hate that I do
It doesn't mean I don't love youMore than you'll ever know
More than I let it show
Me being me, can be hard on us bothIt doesn't mean I'm gone
Even when I do the things
That I hate that I do
It doesn't mean I don't love you
It doesn't mean I don't love you

Willmon was raised on a ranch near Afton, Texas. By his second year in college, he dropped out to join a bluegrass band. In 1995, he moved to Nashville to start a songwriting career, and by 1998 he had a song-publishing contract with Sea Gayle Music. One of his first cuts as a songwriter was "It Doesn't Mean I Don't Love You". This song was recorded by the short-lived duo McHayes (which comprised 1990s country singer Wade Hayes and fiddler Mark McClurg), and reached #41 on the country charts in 2003.
