Don't Take It Personally Lyrics

If you should find me gone tomorrow
Baby, don't be too surprised
I've given all that I can give, girl
I'm tired being a compromiseWell, I tried to make you happy
But you were never satisfied
It's a hopeless situation
I think I should just step asideSeems everything I do is one big mistake
There's only so much a human can take
Sometimes the right choice is the hardest one to make
But leavin' is the best thing for me, yeahSo, don't take it personally
It's nothin' personal, babyWell, I'm that one guy in a million
That you picked out from the crowd
You were sure that you could change me
And I tried to make you proudWho was right, who was wrong, baby
Just don't make no difference now
So, let's both make an admission
We just can't work it out, no, howDon't get me wrong then right, then plead me to play
Nobody ever wrote the rules to this game

And I'd like to go out the way that I came
While I still got my sanity, yeahSo, don't take it personally
It's nothin' personal, babyThis is the hardest thing I've ever had to do
But it's a waste of my time to spend it with you
It may be hard right after all that I've been through
But I just can't wait to be free, yeahSo, don't take it personally
It's nothin' personal, baby
Well, don't take it personally
Don't take it personallyDon't take it personally
Don't take it personally
Don't take it personally

Coco Montoya (b. 1951 in Santa Monica, CA) is a blues guitarist and former member of John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers. Montoya's career began in the mid-70's when Albert Collins asked him to join his band as drummer. Collins took Montoya under his wing and taught him his "icy hot" guitar style. The two remained friends even after Montoya left Collins' band. In the early 80's John Mayall heard Montoya playing guitar in a Los Angles bar. Soon after Mayall asked Montoya to join the newly reformed Bluesbreakers. He remained a member of the band for 10 years.
