Dreamer Lyrics

I’ve got a dollar deal
Hidden down in my shoe
So listen friends
I tell you what I'm gonna do
I’m gonna run up the road of mystery
Hangin' by a thread to a fantasy
A background black showing my face
Buried in the image of an empty space
I'm back on my feet, getting no sleep
Makin' it all mine
Give me a chance to follow the bands
Waitin' for the sunshine, yeah
Husslin' my will in a bar downtown
And if it don't work out now
I’ll keep movin' around and around
Around and around
Till I'm back on my feet, getting no sleep
Makin' it all mine

Give me a chance to follow the bands
I’m waitin' for the sunshine, yeah
A dreamer, a dreamer
Hangin' around
A dreamer, a dreamer
Trying to hitch a ride
A dreamer, a dreamer
Hangin' around
A dreamer, a dreamer
When I turn my back, you're by my side
Well, I fought my way
Through the back stage door
Staring at my goal
Till my eyes get sore
And working my way through the little I say
Caring no less just the light of the day
A background black showing my face
Buried in the image of an empty space
I'm back on my feet, getting no sleep
Makin' it all mine
Give me a chance to follow the bands
I’m waitin' for the sunshine, yeah
Just a dreamer, dreamer
Hangin' around
A dreamer, a dreamer
Trying to hitch a ride
A dreamer, a dreamer
Hangin' around
A dreamer, a dreamer
When I turn my back, you're by my side, yeah
A dreamer, a dreamer
Hangin' around
A dreamer, a dreamer
Trying to hitch a ride
Dreamer, dreamer
Hangin' around
Dreamer, dreamer
Dreamer, dreamer
Dreamer, dreamer

Uriah Heep is a British rock band, officially formed in 1969 in London, England, when record producer Gerry Bron invited keyboardist Ken Hensley (previously a member of The Gods and Toe Fat) to join Spice, members of whom included soon-to-become Heep stalwarts David Byron (vocals) and Mick Box (guitar). The band rapidly grew to become a seminal classic hard rock act of the 1970s and beyond. Their distinctive progressive/art rock/heavy metal fusion has always featured a massive keyboards sound, strong vocal harmonies and (in the early years) David Byron's operatic vocals.

Sometimes jokingly referred to as "The Beach Boys of heavy metal" for their melodic songs, and trademark multi-part harmony backing vocals, although their music draws on diverse influences including psychedelia, gothic sound, progressive rock, hard rock, early heavy metal, jazz, and even country on occasion.

Uriah Heep remains active, its lineup staying steady from 1986 to 2007, when drummer Lee Kerslake left for health reasons, and was replaced by Russell Gilbrook. The current lineup is: Mick Box (guitar, vocals), Trevor Bolder (bass, vocals), Phil Lanzon (keyboards, vocals), Bernie Shaw (lead vocals), and Russell Gilbrook (drums, vocals).
