Hailing from Santa Monica, California, Alec Puro grew up studying piano and percussion. He played in numerous bands throughout childhood and attended Crossroads School for the Arts.

Having over fifteen years experience, Alec began his career doing session work. He explored a range of genres from television commercials to records, playing alongside artists such as Robby Krieger and Jackson Browne.

In 1996, while attending California Institute of the Arts, Alec launched the band Deadsy with Elijah Blue. Deadsy landed a record deal with Dreamworks Records and released their freshman album Commencement, which debuted on The Billboard Top 200 at #99, selling fifteen thousand copies in its first week. Deadsy went on several world tours, opening for bands such as Linkin Park and Stone Temple Pilots, performing to sold out crowds in arenas like Madison Square Garden.

After the band released its second album, Phantasmagore, Alec realized he needed a change. He began licensing music to television shows like Chicago Hope and NYPD Blue, while industry icons such as Michael Mann began taking an interest in his work.

A big break came when Alec composed the score for the 2007 Sundance hit film, The Good Night starring Gwyneth Paltrow and Penelope Cruz. At the premiere, he received accolades from Steven Spielberg as well as a rave review from Variety Magazine, which stated, 'Alec Puro's unobtrusively melodic score plays an especially significant role in the film.'

Alec continues to score films, documentaries and television shows working with esteemed producers like Steven Bochco and Simon Fuller. In 2006, he founded Gramoscope Inc., which encompasses an extensive catalog covering all genres of music for film and television. In 2009, he partnered with The Music Collective, putting both companies in a position to better service the needs of their clients and projects. Read more on Last.fm.
