Flash In the Pan Lyrics

I thought I found a love
that glittered like gold
My sweet thing
the apple of my eye;
Then I saw her driving
right of my life
In a brand new
silver blue Cadillac
I would have bet my last dollar
and the shirt right off my back, yeah.
That our love was the real thing,
not just a flash, flash in the pan;
Not just a flash, a flash in the pan.
I've been fooled for the first
And the last time,
She used to say the words
that sounded so sweet
She soothed me,

she knew just what to do and
Just about the time that
she had me wrapped up
She skated with the man
that had the crash.
How could you do that to me
after all that we've been through.
I've found a love that I can count on
not just a flash, flash in the pan;
I don't need a flash, a flash in the pan
'cause I've been fooled for the first
And the last time.
Now there's only one
thing that I want out of life.
And that's to find a woman
that ain't jive.
She don't have to look
like a Hollywood star.
As long as she loves me
and know I'm the king.
She'll be the queen of my castle
and no one will ever take her place,
'Cause she'll be the one that I can count on
not just a flash, flash in the pan;
She won't be no flash,
a flash in the pan, flash in the pan.

Tower of Power is a horn-based funk/soul band from Oakland, California. In the mid-1960s, 17-year-old tenor saxophonist Emilio Castillo moved from Detroit, Michigan, to Fremont, California. He started a band called the Motowns, specializing in soul music. In 1968, Castillo teamed up with baritone saxophonist Stephen "The Funky Doctor" Kupka and trumpet/trombone player Mic Gillette, moved to Oakland, and began writing original material. They changed the band's name to Tower of Power and began playing frequently in the Bay Area.
