For You Lyrics

Soothe me baby, squeeze tight
Hold the moment, fall through the night
Itching for pleasure, I scratch
Love is a treasure, I want to give backI wanna give you all that I've got
Attention's essential, analysis is not
It's not what you say girl, it's what you mean
So whisper with me, share dreams, ooh, stopIf you stop I'll remember so much
No one can steal what's real from my touch
Stop, what more can I say?
There ain't nothing gonna get in the wayFor you, ohh, baby, baby
I've been waiting, waiting, waiting
Before you, I was given a lie, ooh
You opened up my lifeWill I ever be the same again?
Will I ever talk this way again?
For you, for you all the time
I know it's so right, I'm sending you a signGirl are you getting what you expect?
Blindly trying, cry to connect
Needing affection, ships in the night

Making a statement, if it's wrong or it's rightThink for a while, person to person
Mile after mile, there's something you missed
Here it is, here it is
I just can't resistCan't resist you
I've been waiting, waiting, waiting, ohh, baby, baby, baby
Before you, I was given a lie, ooh
You opened up my lifeWill I ever be the same again?
Will you talk to me this way again?
For you, for you all the time
I know it's so right, I'm sending you a signCan't resist you
I've been waiting, holding out, holding on
What more can I say?
There ain't nothing gonna get in the wayFor you, will I ever be the same again?
Will you talk to me this way again?
Before you, I was given a lie, ooh
Opened up my lifeOhh, yeah, for you, holding out, hold again
Holding out, holding on to you
It's magic, magic, magic, ohh, ohh, ohh
Ohh, yeah, I will always be there for youDon't do it for me, do it for you, ooh, ooh
Baby, baby, baby, I've been waiting, waiting, waiting for you, for you
Ooh, I've been holding out, holding on, holding out, holding on
I've been holding out, holding on, holding out for youI wanna please you, I wanna touch you, touch you
I'm in love, ohh, soothe me baby, so soft baby
Ohh, no I ain't scared, we have dreams to be shared
Soothe me baby, so soft baby
I ain't scared, we got dreams to be shared

His mother played songs by Frank Sinatra to him as a child, and he later became a fan of Motown and other R&B/soul music. He took piano lessons as a child, but he did not like them. He would skip the lessons and ride his bicycle across the bridge from his grandfather's farm over to the heart of the black "Chicken Hill" ghetto, where he could just listen and absorb the music.

In the 1960s, Hall attended Temple University, but did not graduate, preferring instead to spend his time singing on the street corners and play with various musicians and groups. At that time, Daryl Hohl (as he was called then) sang backup for different bands. He eventually changed his last name to Hall. Daryl Hall idolized the Temptations and began to perform session work as a singer. He first met John Oates at a band competition.

After John transferred to a different school, Daryl joined the band Gulliver, which released one eponymous album in 1969 before being dropped from their label.

Daryl is the host of the wildly popular online show entitled "Live From Daryl's House", where Daryl and the band collaborate with artists from various musical genres on the 15th of each month. The first episode aired in 2007, and it's still going strong. Best of all, it's free to watch.
