Someone Like You Lyrics

Only you could ever know how hard it was for me to let you go
Hard to face all those nights and suffer through all the fools advice
It seems to me it's not so bad, to try for the kind of love that we had
Oh, I need that romance one that grows strong when it's got no chance
Now you're gone away and I'm left to carry on
Ain't nobody else gonna bear up to comparison
And if I can't have the real thing, then I've got
To find someone just like you
(I hope someone will come today)
Somebody like you
(Someone to take me all the way)
Somebody like you
(Someone to take your place)
Somebody like you
(Someone to fill this empty space)
What you got it's what you need
There's pain in that but it's plain enough to see
Oh, I know I was satisfied

But nobody else came out of my side
Now you're gone away and I'm left to carry on
Ain't nobody else gonna bear up to comparison
And if I can't have the real thing, then I've got
To find someone just like you
(I hope someone will come today)
Somebody like you
(Someone to take me all the way)
Somebody like you
(Someone to take your place)
Somebody like you
(Someone to fill this empty space)
'Cause I need someone
Now you're gone away girl and I'm left to carry on
Ain't nobody else gonna bear up
Somebody like you
(You got the real thing)
Someone, somebody like you girl
(I hope someone will come today)
Somebody like you girl
(Someone to take me all the way)
To take my heart away
Somebody like you girl
(Someone to take your place)
I need someone like you girl
(Someone to fill this empty space)
Somebody like you girl
(I hope someone will come today)
Send me now, send me now somebody to love
(Someone to take me all the way)
Send me now, send me now somebody to love
(Someone to take your place)
I need someone
(Someone to fill this empty space)
(I hope someone will come today)
To take me all the way, to take me home
[Incomprehensible]

His mother played songs by Frank Sinatra to him as a child, and he later became a fan of Motown and other R&B/soul music. He took piano lessons as a child, but he did not like them. He would skip the lessons and ride his bicycle across the bridge from his grandfather's farm over to the heart of the black "Chicken Hill" ghetto, where he could just listen and absorb the music.

In the 1960s, Hall attended Temple University, but did not graduate, preferring instead to spend his time singing on the street corners and play with various musicians and groups. At that time, Daryl Hohl (as he was called then) sang backup for different bands. He eventually changed his last name to Hall. Daryl Hall idolized the Temptations and began to perform session work as a singer. He first met John Oates at a band competition.

After John transferred to a different school, Daryl joined the band Gulliver, which released one eponymous album in 1969 before being dropped from their label.

Daryl is the host of the wildly popular online show entitled "Live From Daryl's House", where Daryl and the band collaborate with artists from various musical genres on the 15th of each month. The first episode aired in 2007, and it's still going strong. Best of all, it's free to watch.
