Fraulein Lyrics

Far across the deep blue waters
Lives an old German's daughter
On the banks of the old River RhineWhere I loved her and left her
Now I can't forget her
She was my pretty FrauleinFraulein, Fraulein
Walk down by the river
Tonight when the stars start to shineBy the same stars above you
I swear that I love you
You are my pretty FrauleinWhen my memory wanders
Away over yonder
To that cute girl that I left behindIn a moment of glory
Her face comes before me
The face of my pretty FrauleinFraulein, Fraulein
Walk down by the river
Tonight when the stars start to shineBy the same stars above you
I swear that I love you
You are my pretty FrauleinYou are my pretty Fraulein

A life-long renegade, singer/songwriter David Allan Coe is one of the most colorful and unpredictable characters in country music history. One of the pioneering artists of the outlaw country movement of the '70s, he hasn't had many big hits — only three of his singles hit the Top Ten — but he has been among the biggest cult figures in country music throughout his career. Born in Akron, OH, Coe first got into trouble with the law at age nine. As a result, he was sent to reform school.
