Fuzzy Was an Outlaw Lyrics

Fuzzy was an outlaw swamp rat born and raised
Bought a motorcycle in his younger days
Rode into Kentucky to join the outlaw band
Fuzzy tought me how to make a livin' off the land
Fuzzy ran a tractor in the early mornin' dew
Tought me how to plant the crops, and showed me what to do
Stitch and Stew sat on the porch while Debbie fixed a meal
Turpentine my old brown horse was grazin' in the fieldFuzzy was an outlaw swamp rat born and raisedFuzzy's hair was longer than the outlaws that I knew
Dirty blonde and curly wearing pants of faded blue
A barefoot bearded swamprat
but a man above all others
Never was the kind to turn his back upon his brothersFuzzy was an outlaw swamp rat born and raised

A life-long renegade, singer/songwriter David Allan Coe is one of the most colorful and unpredictable characters in country music history. One of the pioneering artists of the outlaw country movement of the '70s, he hasn't had many big hits — only three of his singles hit the Top Ten — but he has been among the biggest cult figures in country music throughout his career. Born in Akron, OH, Coe first got into trouble with the law at age nine. As a result, he was sent to reform school.
