Get a Moon - Clint Is Gone

Chance, the three cry in unison, is Clint is Gone’s fourth member.

If it wasn’t for a misunderstanding, Antoine Bertrand might’ve never written to Julie Gomel after spotting a picture on her myspace in which a girl is playing the cello and suggested a jam of acquaintance. True, Julie is a cello player. False, she is not the girl in the picture. On that note, yes, Fábio Nascimento and Antoine are both Beatles fans and both of them did face a cold night, back on October 23rd 2007 (Antoine’s 21st birthday. Coincidence?), outside the Olympia, Paris famous concert venue where sir Paul McCartney was to play. And it was perhaps unpretentiously that Fábio decided to check out one of their shows and, without much deliberation, joined this bande à part. What he didn’t know is that he’d only be personally introduced to Julie on a train, on their way to their first gig together. That pretty much set the tone that was to follow.

It didn’t take Julie and Fábio long to realize that this young fellow from the Parisian banlieu was a prolific songwriter, carrying the Clint is Gone trademark in his guitar case since his adolescence. Antoine, from his part, after a few false starts, would soon acknowledge that this trio would be it. And guess what? They fit in one car, instruments and all. Makes life so much easier. As most bands, relationships, families and enterprises, Clint is Gone also had its share of breakups and, from experience, learned to appreciate the joys of a solid married life. Unlike the end of the western, in which the lonesome gunman walks away headed into an orange sunset, Clint is Gone is a family that reminds us that, within a group, there are always and obviously individuals giving it unity through their shared contribution, but in which talent and creativity may very well be impossible to single out.
