Johnny Uppercut was born out of the Suicide Girls show at the Spanish Club in Melbourne, Australia on the 11th April 2006. The original line-up consisted of Haylee Deutrom (vox), Chris Salaoras (guitar), Melissa Calia (guitar), David Robinson (bass), Tereza Jancar (synthesizer) and Adam Hewitt (drums). All the members had met either at high school or through university, with the exception of Hewitt who met Jancar whilst she was on a working holiday in Lake Louise in Canada.
