Guilty As Sin Lyrics

Guilty as sin
I know where you've been
Guess she was alone last nightYou took what you want
Now it's all gone
I was just another free rideAnd I just needed something
Really next to nothing
And all I've got is another one
That won't be mineAs if we never kissed
You cross another off your list
But I know where you've been
I know where you've been
Guilty as sinIn that motel not so far away
You said there's so much you couldn't say
Then you went and told me anywayMy new red shoes under the rented bed
Stolen kisses are sweet you said
And I bought that tired line againDo you know how it feels to be second best?
Nothing more and so much less
I wanna be the one who wins and turns awayAs if we never kissed

You cross another off your list
But I know where you've been
I know where you've been
Guilty as sinYou found something in me
And I found something in you
It wasn't worth very muchThat's one thing that is true
Just promises and lies
Promises and liesAs if we never kissed
You cross another off your list
But I know where you've been
I know where you've been
Guilty as sin

Lucy Kaplansky (born 1960) is a folk musician. Originally from Chicago, at the age of 18 she moved to New York City, where she became involved in the city's Greenwich Village folk music scene. In 1983, she decided to become a psychologist, enrolling in Yeshiva University. She continued playing music while completing her PhD, and began to have some success as part of a duo with Shawn Colvin. However, when they began to attract record company interest, Kaplansky declined, choosing instead to set up a private practice and become a staff psychologist at a New York hospital.
