You're Still Standing There Lyrics

I've spent my life following things I cannot see
And just when I catch up to them they slip away from me
I've been down a thousand trails I've never walked before
I found out that without fail they lead me to your doorAnd the world keeps turning round and round
It leaves me hanging in the air
My heart keeps turning upside down
And you're still standin' thereLately I see all the signs, I feel it in the wind
The same thing happens every time that you come back again
I admit that there are nights when I sit up and cry
But sometimes I turn out the lights and pray you'll pass me byAnd the world keeps turning round and round
It leaves me hanging in the air
My heart keeps turning upside down
And you're still standin' thereSince you're gone my empty arms
Have nothing left to hold
And your memory cannot keep me warm
But it never leaves me coldAnd the world keeps turning round and round
It leaves me hanging in the air
My heart keeps turning upside down

And you're still standin' there

Lucy Kaplansky (born 1960) is a folk musician. Originally from Chicago, at the age of 18 she moved to New York City, where she became involved in the city's Greenwich Village folk music scene. In 1983, she decided to become a psychologist, enrolling in Yeshiva University. She continued playing music while completing her PhD, and began to have some success as part of a duo with Shawn Colvin. However, when they began to attract record company interest, Kaplansky declined, choosing instead to set up a private practice and become a staff psychologist at a New York hospital.
