Hangin` On By A Thread Lyrics

A familiar story
A sad affair of the heart
We spend all this time
Trying to findThe glow in the dark
Gentle changes
The eyes still look the same
A familiar heartbeatI go weak
When you walk in
I'm hangin' on by a thread
Too many voices in my earToo many memories locked in here
I'm hangin' on by a thread
Too many voices in my ear
We hurt each otherAnd wonder why
We lie broken in two
I was dreamin'
You were here with meAnd through a open window
We could look through
Straight to the sea

I'm hangin' on by a threadToo many voices in my ear
Too many memories locked in here
I'm hangin' on by a thread
Too many voices in my earWe hurt each other
And wonder why
We lie broken in two
And if I lose you now
Lose you now

Kim Carnes (born July 20, 1945 in Los Angeles, California) is an American singer-songwriter. She is noted for her distinctive, raspy voice which she attributes to many hours spent singing in smoky bars and clubs. Carnes was a member of New Christy Minstrels from 1966 until 1970. Kenny Rogers was also a member, and during this time Carnes met and married Dave Ellingson, with whom she would write most of her songs.
