Happy Endings Lyrics

this town makes my mind slow down
lines in my face like highways now
chasing breezes, kicking boulders
and all of the while just getting olderi leave pieces of paper
pieces of myself along the way
out the window, out the window
and i tell myself thati'll come back for them before i go
and then i won't sing this song tomorrowreason calls i'm never listening
there's always something more distracting
and you take everything so seriously
then you leave and burn up on re-entryfor happy endings
all these little victories
gathered up and hung on the wall like trophys
i tell myself thati've been down this road before
so i won't sing this song anymorei've been down this road before
so i won't sing this song anymore
i've been down on myself enough before
so i won't sing this song anymore

Something for Kate formed in Melbourne, Victoria in 1994. The founding members of the three-piece band were vocalist and guitarist Paul Dempsey, bass player Julian Carroll (later to be replaced by Stephanie Ashworth) and drummer Clint Hyndman. After recording a 7-track demo in 1995, the band signed to Murmur Records, a subsidiary of Sony. In 1996, they released the 7-track EP The Answer to Both Your Questions, recorded and mixed by Greg Atkinson of Sydney band Big Heavy Stuff.
