Hard and Strong Lyrics

(Verse)
Left the car at the petrol station
Standing there for all to see
There's the boat to see up
Starring back to meI took a handful of all the people
Got to hear their minds and heard the screams
Always wrong
Sick of stuff and spill the dreamsShe is all around you, in you and me
Games of our own creation
Fall to our hands and feetStop the fight it's useless
You can always stand and ask for more
Always wrong
So tell me what you're fighting for(Chorus) x4
You can't stop the lights from turning on
Though these words brought back
They come back hard and strong(Verse)
So don't open up your window
Be sure to lock your door

As she is coming for us
As we're sleeping on the floorTell your heart to reach for something more
All is wrong. Watch people spill their dreams
Yes it's all around us, it's in you and me
The games that we created, fall at our hands and feetStop the fight it's over
We will watch others fall
It's freedom yet for granted
And what I saw we're fighting forYou can't stop the lights from turning on
Though these words brought back
It's the chemical make up biology(Chorus) x2
You can't stop the lights from turning on
Though these words brought back
They come back hard and strongStop the lights from turning on (x4)

Alice Russell (b. 1975) is a British soul singer. She is the daughter of an organist, and grew up in Framlingham in Suffolk. At the age of nine, following in her father's and sisters' musical footsteps, Russell began taking lessons on cello, and sang in choirs, before studying art and music in Brighton from 1994. As well as the classical influences of her father, and formal music lessons, Russell listened to gospel music and soul artists such as Stevie Wonder and Aretha Franklin from an early age, which played a big part in the shaping of her style.
